Ahead of the President's first news conference in eight months, a private pow-wow over Kitchen Garden greens...
President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden will have a private lunch together at the White House at 12:30 PM on Wednesday. Since he took office, the President and his second in command have had a tradition of lunching together each week, but the requirements of months of campaign-trail travel threw their schedules into disarray. It's been more than six weeks since the Eater in Chief and 'America's happy warrior' had a closed-press pow wow over Kitchen Garden greens. Today's lunch in the Oval Office Private Dining Room is their first since the President and Biden learned they will be in office for four more years.
There will be plenty to discuss: The President will hold his first news conference since last March after the luncheon, at 1:30 PM in the East Room. After, at 2:45 PM in the Roosevelt Room, the President and Vice President will "attend a meeting with business leaders to discuss the actions we need to take to keep our economy growing and find a balanced approach to reduce our deficit." On Friday, Congressional leaders will visit the White House to continue deficit talks, as the Fiscal Cliff looms.
The President and Biden's last White House lunch was on Monday, Sept. 23. The President departed immediately afterwards to fly to New York City, where he taped a campaign-trail edition of The View. He presented host Barbara Walters with a birthday gift of bottles of White House homebrewed beer.
