Linda Romans-Hnath and Vicki Moore rub elbows with President Obama and President Clinton in Los Angeles...As President Obama fundraises in Los Angeles on Sunday night, he will meet the two winners of the Obama campaign's online 'Meet Two Presidents' contest. The two women are from the battleground states of Ohio and North Carolina, a campaign spokesman announced on Sunday evening. They will also meet President Bill Clinton. The meeting with President Obama will be following the "30 Days to Victory" concert at the Nokia Theater in Hollywood, where a raft of celebrity musicians--and George Clooney--will be on hand to support Mr. Obama. The two ladies will meet President Clinton on Monday; he will attend a fundraising event for the President.
Vicki Moore from Matthews, North Carolina, is a dietician at a local hospital, according to the campaign. She "coordinates family-based healthy lifestyle and sees first-hand the positive impact of the Affordable Care Act. Having pursued a graduate degree later in life, she also appreciates the President’s work on student loan reform." Vicki's nephew, Mac, a senior at UNC-Chapel Hill, will accompany her.
Linda Romans-Hnath from Broadview Heights, Ohio, is an information specialist for a local Cleveland park system that operates programs to help serve urban youth. "As a cancer survivor, the Affordable Care Act gives her peace of mind because she knows she cannot be denied coverage if her husband, Tim, were to lose his job. Linda and her husband Tim, both volunteer for the campaign," according to the campaign. Linda will bring Tim to meet President Obama and President Clinton.
The prize for the online fundraiser included coach-class airfare and a one night's hotel stay for the winners.
At the concert, Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Hudson, Katy Perry, Earth Wind & Fire, and Jon Bon Jovi performed. All but Perry have performed for the President before. Clooney made remarks, as did Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro. Tickets started at $250, and there were limited Gen44 tickets available for $44. The crowd was 6,000 according to the campaign.
After the concert, the President will attend a 9:00 PM $25,000/plate dinner at chef Wolfgang Puck's WP24 restaurant in the Ritz-Carlton hotel. 150 guests were expected.
President Obama will spend the night in Los Angeles. On Monday morning, he makes his first visit to the San Joaquin Valley, to dedicate the César E. Chávez National Monument. The President will be joined by Mayor Villaraigosa, as well as by Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis.
After, the President flies to Northern California for three more fundraising events, including a $20,000/plate dinner hosted by chef Alice Waters and cooked with the help of chef Tyler Florence. Singer John Legend will perform.
